Our Community Journey

Initiatives

How Team Dynamic grew from a local coaching service into a community‑driven CIC transforming lives across Sunderland.

2019–2023

Foundations, Growth & Digital Innovation

Based at the Performance Fitness Centre, Leechmere (Sunderland), we delivered:

  • Tailored 1‑to‑1 personal coaching
  • Group mobility classes
  • Online coaching and virtual mobility sessions during the pandemic
  • A range of community events and charity initiatives, including the Colour Rush fundraiser for Roker Methodist Church

We supported a wide spectrum of people — from beginners to elite performers — including rehabilitation and mobility coaching for Ben Stokes, England Cricket Captain, and numerous local runners and cyclists completing events like the Great North Run.

During this time, we began a meaningful partnership with Sunderland College (Bede Campus), delivering:

  • Masterclasses
  • Workshops
  • Hands‑on industry experience
  • A dedicated online fitness portal for learners and clients

This period shaped our identity and values: inclusive, accessible, educational, and community‑driven.

2023–2024

Expansion, New Coaches & Increased Community Access

We relocated to Everyone Active Silksworth to meet growing demand, continuing:

  • 1‑to‑1 coaching
  • Community events
  • Mobility and wellbeing initiatives

We expanded delivery through local church sessions and community running groups, offering affordable and accessible support.

This year marked a breakthrough in our employment pathway:

  • We hired two Sunderland College learners — Mia (18) and John (50) — showing our commitment to intergenerational coaching opportunities.

Our partnership with the college grew stronger as we continued providing placements, mentoring, and real‑world coaching environments.

2024–2025

Rehabilitation, Social Connection & Embedding Into Education

We transitioned fully into community‑based delivery, providing:

  • 1‑to‑1 sessions in local community spaces
  • Sport England–funded Over 50’s programmes, supporting adults experiencing mobility challenges, chronic pain, and isolation
  • A new Community Walking Group, improving social wellbeing and reducing loneliness

These efforts helped bring the community centre back to life — with increasing attendance at social mornings and group activities.

Our work with Sunderland College deepened:

  • We were invited to be based on‑site
  • Delivered 1‑to‑1 support, group classes, and movement workshops
  • Re‑opened and staffed the college gym
  • Provided inductions, guidance, and extended access to staff and students
  • Taught classroom sessions on mobility, rehabilitation, and inclusive coaching

This period reinforced our reputation as a trusted partner in both community health and education.

2025–2026

Becoming a CIC, Strengthening Partnerships & Expanding Our Reach

Team Dynamic officially became a Community Interest Company (CIC) — solidifying our social mission.

We expanded support further by offering:

  • Home‑based 1‑to‑1 and small‑group coaching for individuals facing barriers such as chronic illness, mobility limitations, long work hours, or anxiety
  • Continued delivery of Sport England Over 50’s classes, with:
    • 20–25 regular participants
    • 100% continuation after funding
    • Significant improvements in physical, mental, emotional, social and occupational wellbeing
    • Several individuals experiencing full recovery from long‑term conditions

Our successes led to new and ongoing partnerships, including:

  • Sunderland Voluntary Sector Alliance (SVSA)
  • Sunderland BIC (Business & Innovation Centre)
  • Local community centres across the city
  • Sunderland College (ongoing collaboration)
  • Sunderland City Council (currently in negotiation)

We have submitted multiple funding applications to extend free and low‑cost programmes across Sunderland — with the goal of delivering classes and workshops in any venue that needs us, keeping barriers low and access high.

This is where we stand today: growing, serving, and dedicated to supporting as many people as possible.

Our Journey Continues

From local coaching…
to community transformation…
to a fully established CIC improving lives across Sunderland.

Team Dynamic will continue delivering inclusive, accessible, holistic movement support — wherever it’s needed most.

Your Stories

Philip Scott
Over 50's Class Participant

"At the age I am, the over 50's fitness classes are a very welcome bonus to my general wellbeing. My mobility has improved beyond recognition. The Team make sure the classes fit everyone's needs and aspirations. The spirt and comradery built up in a relative short time is quite remarkable. My health has and is being enhanced by attending the classes. I recommend Team Dynamic to all over age 50 adults"

Marie Parks
Personal Coaching Participant

"I approached Team Dynamic after having had an unsuccessful left knee replacement, my right knee wasn't much better as it was bone on bone, both knees were painful and continually giving way. The team listened to my problems and formulated a program enabling me to go from what I was able to do to what I want to do. I have regained my full strength in both legs and am more confident in my ability to move around without tripping or falling. I would recommend them to anyone."

Isabel Adamson
Over 50's Class Participant

"I just wanted to say how much I enjoy the over 50's fitness classes that Team Dynamic host. As an over 70's lady it is helping me maintain my strength and mobility and are keeping me in good health. I also enjoy the community spirit we are building as a class when we all meet up. The coaches are very friendly, approachable and enthusiastic and inspire all in the group to give it their best effort. Everyone feels welcome."
